Mendocino sider..

Post by Deebo » Thu Jun 16, 2011 6:39 pm

Went camping in Mendocino for a few days and caught a fun little sider on one of the days when the swell was big enough. This spot is pretty sweet because it's blocked from the northwest dub. Only problem is that I had to paddle around from the next cove over to get to it, so no skimming pics, just wave pics for now.

We also skimmed the beach at the Navarro rivermouth which was almost really fun, but wasn't because tide wasn't low enough and beach could have been steeper. Still this place has tons of potential and has been at least decent each of the few times I have checked it the last couplea years. Good thing about this spot is that the dub is generally offshore here when it is strong from the northwest and blown out most everywhere else.

how big was the sider? Looks tiny, but from that angle pretty tough to judge. Lookin forward to the Mendo video

Ya only about waist high, but still pretty dang fun when you make the connection. Also cool because of how clear the water was. I could see everything below me and through the little peaks I was connecting on. I definitely think it will be really good on a bigger swell and I hope to get footy of it someday soon...

This looks exactly like the north end of Duncan's Cove! If only DC got waves, it too has perfect dub protection.

When the going gets tough the tough go skimboarding.
