Monterey skim....

Post by shred2kook » Fri Jan 27, 2012 10:55 pm

hope it's cool to talk about...

Was touring the coast with family yesterday, ended up cruising Monterey and Carmel.

While I wanted to see Ghost tree go off (which didnt happen) I stumbled into the beauty of Carmel river beach....what a sight! Heavy shorebreak even at low tide (too far away for skimming at low that day though).

Anybody ever gave it a try? I would bear the drive down there just to enjoy the beauty of the surroundings and a bowl'n'beer on the white sand :D

Hows it going Shred! Yeah Monterey has some decent skim at times. Actually if you've watched Wyatt Colen's mini movie Most of that is monterey, so is Corey's "Lagabo" video. As far as river mouth, its usually to big, and troughy paired with very slow water. We do skim it occasionally but there is usually something better around. Best part of the river is when they breach it and you get a decent chest high still wave.... PM me and we'll chat.
