Re: Skim sale at the shack!
Is that a sale? Only $50.00 on a skim board, are they woody's? Seriously a real sale is like 30% or more thats just my opinion.
Re: Skim sale at the shack!
30%? We aren't talking about some Hanes t-shirts from Walmart here. Take some time to think about the thin profit margins of a small board producer or the difficulty of running a surf shop in a small town, in a world dominated by big businesses, corporations, and internet sales. When you take into account labor, materials, machinery, advertising, team riders, research, overhead, etc for the manufacturing side of things and then you take into account the bills that the surf shop has to pay for business license, workers, utility bills, property taxes, advertising, maintenance, etc- there is a lot that goes into the cost of a board. $50 bucks off is a big dent in the price and a darn good deal "in my opinion"...

I hear you vacadoug, I my self own a business and understand burden fees. My point I am trying to make is a sale should drive people to the store, and if they don't buy the board with $50.00 off they will buy something else especially when you run a small shop were there is not a lot of people.
Re: Skim sale at the shack!
I gotta agree with ozzfest on this one. 50 bucks is barely gonna cover my gas money to bodega, so not much incentive there and since only 2 skimmers live in bodega and 1 of them gets free boards and the other gets a bigger discount than 50 bucks, I'm thinkin you're tryin to pull in people from out of the area and 50 bucks isn't much incentive.

Wow talk about killing the messenger.
$50 bucks is $50 buck no matter how you look at it.

Re: Skim sale at the shack!
Valid points but there is the assumption that this sale was targeted solely toward Cramik skimmers. No I wouldn't expect someone to drive an hour and a half or two hours out to Bodega for a board simply because it is $50 off. But I do think the sale makes sense when you have people coming to the beach for spring or summer who aren't hard core but they have seen it on the internet, seen it on tv, and they want mom to buy them one of the boards that the big boys ride. Most of you guys on here have brand loyalty, connections, friends who make boards, you make them yourselves, etc.. but regardless we are all picky and we know what we want- and ultimately we get boards by mail order or pick them up at the source anyways.

I look at this multiple ways. First and foremost is that I only speak about facts. The #1 fact is... the internet is about to be gone forever. Therefore, ordering skims online will be a thing of the past. You can't argue that. Fact #2 -- some young and up-n-comer might be out searching for skim and this might just be the perfect excuse to grab a board on the way. WM how many times did we get boards on the road? Fact #3 -- I agree with SC Liner that $50 bucks is $50 bucks. We sound like the millennial generation when we start complaining about someone marking down prices on an item. Thank you to the BB Surf Shack and Chris for making the effort to support local skim. Facts are amazing aren't they? That's a fact.
Somebody get me a Ballena... get me one right now!
